An inspirational quote that isn't terrible

harun yahya quote i always wonder why birds chris ruggiero blog

Most inspirational quotes are really dumb. I talked about two in particular "Stars can't shine without darkness" and "The best way to avoid disappointment is to not expect anything from anyone"

But this one I actually love.

I'm very guilty of often seeing things in a 'grass is always greener' perspective. I think about how awesome other people have it and how I'm always missing out on some of the best things (even though things are pretty awesome for me).

I know this is a common thing for a lot of people. I know my life is someone else's 'greener grass' because people often tell me straight up they wish they were doing something like what I'm doing. They see the instagram version so they don't realize my day-to-day is probably pretty similar to theirs.

Is instagram/facebook/snapchat the problem?

Are we sizing up our everyday lives to how we imagine others to be living? Sometimes I look back through my instagram and it impresses even me! It looks like I'm constantly out exploring the world and visiting exotic places. Don't get me wrong, I'm lucky that this does happen, but NOT EVERYDAY.

Back to the quote.

We look at birds and think about how free they are. They can just decide to fly away to where ever they want.

"Flying away" means different things for everyone. For some of us it's quite literal and we want to physically travel and experience the world from different viewpoints.

For others it's just experiencing new things or experiencing common things in a new way. For this we don't need to "fly" anywhere. We just need the imagination and creativity to get out of our mental ruts that we've fallen into over time.

Is there somewhere you wish you lived or could travel to? We all have these fantasies.

I want to live somewhere new everyday.

But sometimes I think to myself, and I urge you to do the same, what exactly would I be doing if I were in these particular places?

I quickly realize that I can be doing just about everything I want exactly where I currently am. It's often just an excuse to be lazy or to procrastinate when I say I need to live in a different city or need more resources or whatever else I see people on instagram with.

There's some other quote I just thought about and will mess it up, but it's something like "Someone, somewhere is dreaming of the life you have now."

Don't let them down.

Live it up.

Start flying.. even if that means staying right where you are.
